Jono's Life Philosophy

A working system for thinking clearly, living truthfully, and turning insight into a life that feels aligned.

This is not a quote graveyard. This is not outsourced wisdom. This is a place to collect ideas, pressure-test them, and distill what is actually true enough to live by.

Current Spine

What does it mean for me to live as a good, true, powerful man without becoming hard, false, or performative?

That question sits underneath almost everything here:

  • fatherhood
  • love
  • ambition
  • truth
  • boundaries
  • legacy
  • self-respect

Core Compass

  • **Live true** — Emotional honesty over comfort or approval.
  • **Build boldly** — Create things that matter, not just things that make money.
  • **Love deeply** — Be fully present with partner and children.
  • **Grow always** — Stagnation is a quiet failure.
  • **Leave a legacy that lifts others** — Break generational cycles; leave people better, not smaller.

North Star

Does this move me closer to being fully myself, or further into being managed, muted, or safe?

If it costs truth, it's too expensive.

How to Use This Folder

1. Capture fast

Dump raw thoughts, quotes, links, questions, and fragments into `inbox.md`. Do not try to make them pretty on the way in.

2. Distill deliberately

Move the best ideas into `principles.md` only after they survive reflection. A principle should be clear enough to change behavior.

3. Think by theme

Use the files in `themes/` to develop your view on the parts of life that actually matter.

4. End with a stake in the ground

Every worthwhile note should eventually become one of these:

  • a **principle**
  • a **question**
  • an **action**

Otherwise it is just decorative intelligence.

Filters

Keep asking:

  • Why did this hit me?
  • What truth is this pointing at?
  • What do I disagree with here?
  • What would change in my life if I actually believed this?
  • Is this wisdom, or just clever language?

What This Is For

This system should help me:

  • understand what I actually believe
  • identify contradictions between my values and behavior
  • build a philosophy that supports fatherhood, partnership, work, health, and legacy
  • gather material that could eventually become writing, talks, teaching, or a personal operating manual

Current Areas of Focus

  • truth over comfort
  • strength without hardness
  • ambition without self-abandonment
  • fatherhood and cycle-breaking
  • love as presence, not assumption
  • structure as a path to freedom
  • legacy as what my children can mirror without unlearning me
  • identity as self-authorship, not performance

Good Standard for an Entry

When something is worth keeping, answer:

  • **Source** — where did it come from?
  • **Idea** — what is it saying?
  • **Why it hit** — why did it land?
  • **What's true** — what resonates?
  • **What's missing / bullshit** — what doesn't hold up?
  • **My principle** — one sentence I can live by
  • **Implication** — what changes if I take this seriously?

Reminder

Do not build a philosophy that sounds good. Build one that makes you more honest, more alive, more loving, and harder to bullshit.
